This is where the changes happen
Changing a digital sculpt is a conversation. Changing a cast piece of solid silver is not possible. So this stage is where you should be demanding, particular and slow — and where most people are too polite.
What to look at properly
- The pose and stance, which carry more character than the details do.
- Proportions, especially on a pet or a person.
- Any detail that matters emotionally rather than visually.
- How it will sit — base, balance, which way it faces.
- What has been simplified, and whether you agree with it.
Why approval happens before any silver is poured
The digital sculpt is the stage where changes are cheap, and it is deliberately the stage where you are asked to be difficult. Moving an ear, changing a stance, adjusting an expression — all of that costs time at this point and nothing else. The same change after casting means starting again, because silver does not accept revisions.
This is also where the difference between accurate and right becomes obvious. A sculpt can match the photographs precisely and still feel wrong to the person who owned the animal, because what they recognize is a posture or an expression that no single photograph captured. That is normal and it is fixable here. Say it plainly rather than politely — vague approval at this stage is the most common cause of a finished piece that nobody is quite happy with.

- 03Revisions until you are happy, within reason and stated up front.
- 04Explicit approval before anything is cast.
Be difficult at this stage. Ask for the change. People routinely accept a sculpt that is nearly right because they do not want to be a nuisance, and then live with nearly-right in solid silver forever.

- Can I ask for changes?
- Yes, and you should. That is what this stage is for.
- How many revisions?
- Stated up front so there are no surprises. Within reason, until you are happy.
- What if I hate it?
- Tell us. Sculpting is iterative and we would far rather hear it now.
- Can I change it after approval?
- No. Once casting begins the design is fixed. Silver does not take amendments.
